<p>We are very sorry to announce that our National Chaplain, Fr. William Scanlan, Parish Priest of St. Anselm&#8217;s, Dartford, died on Monday 14 May 2012 in the Lions Hospice, Dartford, after a long illness. Please remember him in your prayers.</p>
<p>His body will be received into St. Anselm’s Church at 5:00 pm on Wednesday 6 June followed by a Mass at 7.30pm.</p>
<p><strong>The Funeral Mass will be at 12noon on Thursday 7 June 2012 at St. Anselm&#8217;s Church.</strong></p>
<p>The principal celebrant will be The Rt. Rev. Peter Smith, Archbishop of Southwark.</p>

<p>Please see the announcement of the death of Supt John Cardwell from George Murrell and details of his funeral:</p>
<p><em>I regret to inform you that John (ex City Police) died in the early hours of 26th December.  John was of course well known to many fellow Guild members and in particular for his work in organising pilgrimages to Lourdes for the disabled.</em></p>
<p><em>The funeral mass has been arranged for 10.am 16th January at Holy Cross Church, Carshalton.</em></p>

<p>It is with great sadness that I have to announce the death of Terry Piper (East London Branch).  He was found dead in bed this morning by Andy Chipperfield.  Terry was only 64 years old.</p>
<p>Terry was a very active member of the Guild both in the East London Branch and with stewarding at the Cathedral.</p>
<p>Details of his funeral arrangements will be announced in due course.  These will be posted on the website on the News section of the site.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>On Sunday 29<sup>th</sup> May 2011 the Chief Constable of Gwent Mrs Napier attended a service at Our Lady&#8217;s @ St. Michaels Church Pen Y Pound organised by the Catholic Police Guild (Cardiff Province).</p>
<p>The service intentions were offered for all severing Heddlu Gwent Police Officers, retired and deceased Officers in England and Wales. The Mass was celebrated by Fr Tomas Regan, the Parish Priest.</p>
<p>The Mass was also attended by the following dignitaries:</p>
<ul>
<li>Superintendent Mark Sutton, Gwent Police</li>
<li>Mr Robert Derricott, Gwent Police Authority</li>
<li>Mr Patrick Somerville QPM, President of the Catholic Police Guild</li>
<li>Mr David Davies, MP for Monmouthshire</li>
</ul>
<p>This event was organised by Detective Constable William Duggen, Gwent Police, and Cardiff Provincial of the Catholic Police Guild</p>
<p>A letter from the Archbishop-elect George Stack of Cardiff was read out by Mr Somerville, supporting the Guild’s intentions.</p>
<p>DC William Duggan CPG, would like to thank all serving and retired Police Officers, invited guests, and the local congregation who attended and supported the day&#8217;s intentions.</p>
<p>The Mass was following by a garden party in grounds of the presbytery with live music from &#8216;The Sub Tones&#8217; and Jazz soloist Henry Galletta.</p>
<p>A special mention for JEM Catering and all volunteers involved to mark this special occasion on behalf of the Catholic Police Guild and supporters of the St. Michael Centre.</p>
<p>Over 130 people attended the event and the day was an overwhelming success.</p>
